On a full-day sightseeing Ourika Valley Excursion, see the Ourika Valley in the High Atlas Mountains. Visit a woman’s argan oil co-operative and traditional Berber dwellings.
We’ll depart from your hotel/ Riad at 09:30. Drive towards the Atlas Mountains, admiring the picturesque scenery of verdant meadows and authentic 16th and 17th-century Berber towns. You may even stop at a roadside souk if you take your trip on a Monday. This is a beautiful drive of 60 km and takes you to the foot of the Atlas at about 1000 m altitude.
You will discover the small villages of mud, red hanging on the sides of the mountain, terraced agriculture, the banks of the river fresh.
You will view fruit orchards, vegetable terraces, and settlements perched on the sides of hills. Admire the Berbers’ struggle in hoisting materials to build modest dwellings up mountainsides and working the terraces in a tough environment.
You will continue through the palm tree valley, following the Ourika River. Fruit orchards, little hamlets, riverfront eateries, and affluent vacation residences will keep you busy. Visit Setti Fatma to enjoy the cool waters.
You will feel the spray on your face as you cool down from the African sun, much like the natives who have chosen Marrakech as their favorite weekend getaway.
You will visit a Berber house to explore their lifestyle and the simplicity of equipment and have an idea of the Berber household. Then, you will assist in the preparation of mint tea and enjoy it with family.
You may have a picnic in the valley or trek up to the seven waterfalls. It is a simple trek with an approved guide that may take 45 minutes to 3 hours depending on how daring you want to be. If you want to embark on the lengthier trek, make sure you have suitable walking shoes.
After we take a stop and dine at a café near the waterfall, we head back to drop you off at your hotel/Riad to end our Ourika Valley Excursion.
