We will first start our imperial cities of Morocco tour by stopping in Casablanca. Upon arrival in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco, you will be met and transferred to your Casablanca hotel, where you will check in and relax for the afternoon. Depending on the time, you could choose to have an optional tour of the Hassan II mosque.
After breakfast, you will leave towards Fes. On route, you will stop at Rabat, the capital city and residence of the King, for lunch and a whole afternoon to enjoy the beautiful coastal city. After lunch you will continue on to Fes, the spiritual capital of Morocco, where you will be spending a magical night in a Riad.
After breakfast, you will begin your guided tour of the medina, one of the world’s largest walled cities. You will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets, and many other art objects of Morocco.
A visit to the King’s Palace, the tanneries, and the potters are just a few places you will experience. For lunch, you will eat in a traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina.
Afterward, you will complete the tour and return to your hotel for the evening.
After an early breakfast, you will begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin to descend toward the Sahara Desert.
Halfway, you will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks. we continue on mountain roads overlooking the wide-flowing Oued Ziz.
Passing Kasbahs and palm groves, we drive through the adobe-colored city of Er-Rachidia and arrive in the late afternoon at Merzouga, a city on the outskirts of the Sahara Desert. Later in the afternoon, we will join the camels for a two-hour camel ride across the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi where you will be a spectator of a beautiful sunset.
For a night that you won’t forget, Berber music will accompany a delicious meal prepared by locals. The end of the night will be spent in a Nomad tent overlooking a night full of stars.
After breakfast, you will return by camel to the 4x4s and head back to Erfoud. From Erfoud, you get to enjoy the scenic High Atlas Mountains en route to the Todra Gorges. In the afternoon, you will take a walk up the towering Todra Gorges (600 feet high).
The picturesque river valleys make for a beautiful journey toward the southeast of Morocco. Then, continue your journey towards other impressive gorges: Dades while passing the strange rock creation of Tamnalt Hills. You will spend the night in a nearby hotel.
After an early breakfast, you will set off towards the High Atlas Mountains via Ouarzazate. Tucked away in the High Atlas Mountains, it is one of the jewels of Morocco, near which you find Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. In typical Moroccan fashion, the true treasures must be searched out and discovered as they are usually off the beaten path.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco. Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and recently The Gladiator are all movies that were shot there. After the tour, lunch will be taken at a close-by restaurant.
In the afternoon, you will head over to Marrakech as we pass through the Atlas Mountains.
After breakfast, you will have a guided tour of Marrakech, the southern pearl of Morocco. You will discover the Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, and many other hidden treasures. After lunch, you will continue with the tour to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Jamaa el-Fna, one of the central tourist attractions of Marrakech.
The tour will come to an end with an exploration of the souk (market) lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets, and many other art objects of Morocco.
