This one-of-a-kind day Asni Ouirgane Excursion is scheduled to one of Morocco’s most stunning natural places, the Asni Valley and Tassa Ouirgane town. This expedition will take you to stunning natural settings and provide you with an amazing experience in the heart of the Atlas Mountains.
Asni is located almost at the foot of Mount Toubkal, the highest point of North Africa at 4160 meters. In the valley is a succession of traditional Berber villages that are one of the highlights of our Asni Ouirgane Excursion.
For your Asni Ouirgane Excursion, we will go along the magnificent Imlil route. Along the trip, in valleys with multiple settlements, one may view the huge landscape covered in green oaks, cypresses, and other Atlas plants.
The Asni Ouirgane Excursion takes you through a variety of breathtaking scenery. We will also climb a tiny mountain pass to Ouirgane and explore the gorges of the Oued N’Fis. There is a spectacular view of the surrounding area from the mountain trail. This tour is best taken during Berber Souk days, which are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
On the way, we will stop in the little town of Tahanouat to see an Argan oil cooperative, and if you are traveling on Tuesday, you will have the opportunity to visit the weekly Tahouanout Souk. Then we’ll pass the breathtaking Ghiraya gorges to the famed Asni valley, where you may have a camel ride, snap photographs, or enjoy a cup of mint tea by the river before continuing to Douar Tassa Ouirgane.
We will choose the route of Dar Tassa, a lovely Berber guest house beautifully positioned in the midst of a delightful Doaur holding the same name ‘Douar Tassa’ affording an unbelievably spectacular view over the little valley of Tassa Ouirgane and the Atlas Mountains, 5 kilometers before the famous settlement of Ouirgane.
First, we will participate in a Tanourt demonstration to learn how to make Berber bread, and then we will have lunch on the panoramic terraces of Dar Tassa while enjoying a unique and breathtaking view of the little valley of Tassa Ouirgane.
Finally, we will visit Tassa Ouirgane village to learn about this small piece of earthly heaven and to experience the indigenous way of life.
Optionally, it is possible to continue until the TIN MEL mosque at the bottom of the valley. Built in the early twelfth century, the mosque is currently being restored. However, you can still admire its architecture and unparalleled elegance.
