This 4-Day Marrakech Desert Tour takes you on a short but concise trip on which you will see many Saharian towns and landscapes. The Marrakech Desert Tour starts when we pick you up from your hotel/Riad in Marrakech. We begin the journey traveling over the Tizi Nticha Pass at an elevation of 2260 meters. You will pause to admire the spectacular views, before turning onto the pretty minor road towards the crumbling, old Glaoui Kasbah at Telouet.
Enjoy lunch in this scenic location, and look around the picturesque Kasbah. We continue to Ouarzazate, Skoura, the road of 1000 Kasbahs, the Rose Valley, and the green fertile Gorges of Dades. An overnight stay awaits you in Dades Valley.
After breakfast, we head to the dramatic Tourdra Gorges. On the way, watch the panoramic views of the old mud Berber villages overlooking the valley.
Lunch will be served in a restaurant under 300 m (980 ft) red cliffs. Before continuing to the desert, we will pass by ancient irrigation wells and the sleepy town of Erfoud known for fossils productions. We continue to the biggest sand dunes in Morocco – Erg Chebbi. Check-in will be at a welcoming desert.
After freshening up, you will mount camels for what is the highlight of many people’s trips. A night under a blanket of stars in a Berber tent deep within the dunes is the plan for this night of the Marrakech Desert Tour. Dinner will be prepared for you over an open fire while you enjoy the silence and the desert breeze.
Wake up for to watch the sunrise, have breakfast, and shower before we start our journey to Ouarzazate. Then, you will visit the ancient city of Rissani which is the place from which Arab dynasties first came to Morocco.
We see men wearing indigo-blue robes that are distinctive for the Saharan people. Then, we will be driving in a different route (the old caravan routes) and passing by many southern villages and towns, among them Alnif and Tazzarin. We continue across the longest river Valley of the Draa with its splendid palm plantations. Arrival at Ouarzazate is expected to be in the late afternoon.
On our last day back in Marrakech, we will visit the photogenic Kasbahs of Ait Benhaddou, built with mud clay from the banks of the river. Ait Benhaddou is one of the most impressive Kasbahs in Morocco. That’s why it is cited as a World Heritage status by UNESCO. The site is also a scene of many movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and Gladiator.
We arrive in Marrakech by the afternoon and transfer you to your Riad or hotel at the end of our Marrakech Desert Tour service.
